HUDERES is experienced in fabricating and distributing of clean cooking stoves and Solar Energy. We have up to date supplied 26 large size clean cooking stoves to 10 secondary schools in Karagwe and Kyerwa Districts. We have also supplied 350 small family size cooking stoves to Rwambaizi, Kibona and Igurwa community in Karagwe, we have also supplied Solar Energy to 40 farmer groups, viz:- Kituntu, Rwambaizi, Katwe, Igurwa, Kagutu, Ndama, Ihanda and Kamagambao.

Our current activities are Preparation of tree Nursery, trainings on tree nursery management, Supply of trees seedlings, Tree planting, trainings and support, Trainings on sustainable use of natural resources, Distribution of seeds and Solar energy technologies and Construction and training on fuel saving Clean cooking stoves.

Climate Change

Climate change is real affecting us in ways that we can see and feel. Climate change is a threat because the global warming will cause many incidents. We have noticed a drought in our area and unusual rains. Furthermore, even small temperature changes are causing crops to die, decreasing the amount of food available.

Plant and forests are natural carbon sinks, but due to the speed of tree cutting the benefit of forests cannot be realized. The more the trees are planted, the more the trees are cut to meet fuel wood demand.

HUDERES has come with a solution of communities to be trained to make and use fuel wood saving technology such Energy Saving Clean Cooking stoves which reduced fuelwood use by 75%.

This problem is also closely linked to deforestation and unchecked habitat destruction so by fighting those two issues, we can also slow down loss of biodiversity.

Methods and technologies to be used, including: where and how the units are produced, how do you distribute them, how do you raise awareness, how do you involve the people?

The stoves are constructed using steel plates and used car reams. We will also train communities in the project area to use soil and cow dung to construct Clean Cooking stoves. The materials used are locally available.

HUDERES: Supplying small Clean Cooking Stoves to small individual families and other Women groups These stoves are reducing firewood usage  by 50% compared to traditional cooking methods.

In Tanzania, Women and Children carry about 40.4 million cubic metres of Firewood in Rural Areas (95 percent) out of total estimated 42 million cubic metres of wood consumption in Tanzania in 1999 were consumed as woodfuel. Out of this, 26 million cubic metres were consumed in rural areas as firewood (24 million cubic metres for households cooking, 2.03 million cubic metres for rural Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and 14.4 million cubic metres in the urban areas mainly as charcoal. The most predominant use of woodfuel is in household for cooking and heating. Other uses are in social centres (schools, hospitals, prisons, etc) and SMEs (beer brewing, bread baking, fish smoking and frying, pottery, food vending/small restaurants, brick making, lime production and processing of beeswax.
